Terms of Service

Welcome to The Doula Hive. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and The Doula Hive Ltd ("The Doula Hive", "we", "us"). They govern your use of our platform at thedoulahive.co and any related services (together, the "Platform").

By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please don't use the Platform.

1. Who can use the Platform

The Platform is currently for adult (18+) doulas and birth workers practicing in the UK. By signing up, you confirm that:

3. What The Doula Hive is — and isn't

The Doula Hive is a software platform. We provide tools to help doulas list their services, manage their practice, and connect with their professional community. We are not:

Doulas on the Platform are independent professionals responsible for their own practice, including scope of practice, insurance, qualifications, and any client agreements.

4. Acceptable use

When you use the Platform, you agree not to:

5. Your content

You retain ownership of the content you post (your profile information, photos, bio, etc.) ("Your Content"). By posting Your Content, you grant The Doula Hive a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce, and adapt Your Content for the purpose of operating, marketing, and improving the Platform. You can remove Your Content at any time by editing your profile or deleting your account; the licence ends when your content is removed, except for copies retained for backup or legal purposes.

You confirm that Your Content is yours to post and does not infringe anyone else's rights.

6. Use of anonymised data

We may use anonymised and aggregated information about Platform activity to improve the Platform and to produce industry insights and research that make the impact of doula work more visible. Anonymised data is not personal data and does not identify you. See our Privacy Notice for details.

7. Fees

Where to find current pricing. The fees for using the Platform — including any introductory, founding member, beta, or promotional rates — are set out on our pricing page at thedoulahive.co/pricing and/or in your account dashboard. By starting or continuing a paid plan, you agree to the fees shown there.

Billing. Unless otherwise stated, paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis (typically monthly). All fees are stated in GBP and are inclusive or exclusive of VAT as indicated on the pricing page.

Price changes. We may change our pricing at any time for new sign-ups. If we change the price of a plan you are already on, we will give you at least 30 days' advance notice by email before the new price applies to you. If you don't want to continue at the new price, you can cancel before it takes effect.

Founding member commitment. If you signed up under a "founding member" or equivalent promotional offer, the rate you signed up at will remain available to you for the period stated in that offer at the time of sign-up, provided your account stays in good standing and remains continuously active.

Cancellation. You can cancel a paid plan at any time from your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; we do not provide pro-rated refunds for partial periods, except where required by law.

Failed payments. If a payment fails, we may suspend or downgrade your access to paid features until it is resolved.

8. Intellectual property

The Doula Hive name, logo, design, code, and content (other than Your Content) are owned by The Doula Hive Ltd or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, or use them without our written permission.

9. Third-party services

The Platform may integrate with third-party services (e.g., Google sign-in, Apple sign-in, payment providers). Your use of those services is governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services.

10. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided "as is". We do our best to keep it reliable but, to the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose.

We do not warrant or guarantee:

You use the Platform — and rely on information from other users — at your own risk.

11. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited (for example, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation).

Subject to that, our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the Platform is limited to the greater of (a) £100 or (b) the total fees you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special losses, loss of profits, loss of business, or loss of data.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold The Doula Hive harmless from any third-party claims, losses, or damages (including reasonable legal costs) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Platform, or your professional services provided to clients.

13. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms or pose a risk to other users or to us. You may terminate at any time by closing your account.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Platform evolves. If changes are material, we will let you know by email or in-app notice before they take effect. Continued use of the Platform after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes.
